The TSBEMFT and the TSBEPC certify me as an Approved Supervisor. The supervisory relationship frequently lasts quite some time, as 3000 hours is no easy feat! Due to this extended time, I choose my supervisees carefully, and I encourage them to do likewise as they seek out a supervisor. I consider the supervision I offer uncommon in at least two ways. First, I discourage hierarchical positioning related to the supervision process. By the time supervisees qualify for a temporary license, they have had plenty of opportunities to develop their own integrity, competency, and self-trust. So, I treat supervisees with equality, seeing the relationship as one in which there is mutual giving and receiving. Second, supervision with me often attends to self-of-the-therapist concerns, as I believe that supervisees need to be developing on a personal level to become the best professionals they can be. As a result, I am focused on helping supervisees assist those with whom they work rather than acting as if I am actually working with their clients myself. Unlike some supervisors, I will rarely tell you what to do or say with your clients. Instead and ideally, I want to help you, the supervisee, discern how to serve your clients through a series of questions, reflections, stories, humor, etc.
